Sunday Streets:
As a part of Mayor Newsome’s Shape Up SF Committee, Rhythm & Motion and ODC helped launch Sunday Streets on August 31 and September 14, 2008. This event, modeled on 25-year old program in Bogota, Columbia, brings 4.5 miles of open space to SF streets and creates a novel, fun play space for all. Organized activities included Dance Workout classes taught by Rhythm & Motion, yoga, roller skating lessons, biking and bike repair, stretching, guided walking tours, Tai Chi, Boot Camp classes and much more. YouthFest:
A Mutual effort of ODC School, ODC Theater, and the Chandam Youth Company, is a presentation showcasing young performers. Past participants have included: Youth Speaks, Nash Brothers, Dimensions Extensions Performance Ensemble, Gen Taiko, Loco Bloco, the Chandam Youth Company, and the ODC Dance Jam.
Family Day:
This special open house for the Youth and Teen Program welcomes children and adults of all ages to visit the ODC Dance Commons, sample free classes, and talk to faculty and returning parents. Placement classes for ballet and contemporary classes will take place during Family Day. Family Day 2009: Sunday August 30th.
