SF Moving Men is offering a 14 week contract beginning in April. Pay is for rehearsals and performance. SF Moving Men will be presenting repertory work in the National Queer Arts Festival June 4-27 and developing a new performance installation for the SF Fringe Festival Sept 8-19.
Christine Cali & Co is auditioning dancers for an on-going Tuesday morning research group that will be focusing on practice-to-performance.
SF Moving Men is directed by choreographer Joe Landini and features athletic movement that incorporates elements of dance-theatre, post-modernism and themes from queer/pop culture. Male dancers with all sexual identities are encouraged to audition for the company. In June, the company presents an annual 4-week season with the National Queer Arts Festival at The Garage and in September they have received funding to develop a new performance-installation at The Garage. Dancers should have intermediate/advanced contemporary technique, improvisational skills and be open to the collaborative process. In April-May, rehearsals are twice a week (weeknights & weekends) and performances are on the weekends. Dancers will also be invited to help develop the new performance installation during the summer.
Christine Cali recently returned to San Francisco from Seoul, South Korea, where she was a Visiting Dance Professor at SungKyunKwan University (2006-2008). Cali holds an MFA in Dance from Hollins University/the American Dance Festival (2006), co-directed projectLIMB in Brooklyn, NY (2003-2006) and founded/directed CaliCO Dance in SF (1998-2003). She also teaches dance at ODC Dance Commons and Kunst-Stoff. Christine Cali and Joe Landini have worked together for 11 years and co-curate the contemporary dance program at The Garage. In addition to being SFMM's Rehearsal Director, Cali is also a frequent choreographic contributor and guest artist with the company.
